Summary:
A Cessna 172 cost between 100~110 US$/hour or around 85~90 Euro/hour in Europe (It varies with the aircraft you choose to fly, like Cessna 152 will cost a little bit less). A helicopter training costs around 200~225 US$/hour.
So for a Commercial Pilot Licence after 250 hours(you will need around 50 hours of simulator training & around 50 hours of instrument flying) it would be roughly = 100*250 = 25,000 US$ + other incidental costs (around 2000 US$)
Then multi-engine rating would be around 200 US $/hour (you will need around 50 hours) so that can directly proceed to Boeings/Airbus training, before joining as a co-pilot.
But a medical is a must before you start flying lessons...
For a Private Certificate expect around $5,500-6,000. That covers everything (hours, ground school and such.)
I did it Part 61 (One on one with an instructor versus going to a school) and spent about $6,000 for my Private Certificate, including books, medical, exam fees, and about 55 hours, some dual some solo.
If you are training in the U.S., that's a good estimate for the first certificate. After that, you could spend another $6k or so on the Instrument, then a few more thousand on the commercial. You'd probably want to go to a part 135 for CFI or ATP training, though.
